What
is known today as Grupo Cárnico Los González
begins in the year 1973 as a small farm with a capacity for 400 lambs,
a human capital of 10 people and 4 vehicles.
The gradual increase in the activity lead to the establishment
in 1984 of the company Sociedad Agraria de Transformación SAT 42
LOS GONZALEZ. This company used other slaughterhouses for slaughtering
animals, which were later placed into the market. The policy of constant
capital renewal within the company lead to an increase in square meters
of the farm and its activity, resulting in the need for it’s own
slaughterhouse, which was opened in 1986. Two years afterwards it was
licensed by the EEC with registration number 10-05461-TE, and became one
of the first slaughterhouses in Spain to receive this certification.
Today the company has:
- A human capital of 300 people.
- Its own factory of feedstuffs.
- A sheep farm with a capacity for 55,000 animals.
- Slaughterhouse and quartering room with an averange weekly output
of 11,000 lambs.
- Cattle farm: We have 7 cattle farms with 1,500 animals, at a distance
of 50km around the slaughterhouse. Our team is in charge of the purchase,
transport, feeding and veterinary care, so that the cattle-raiser only
has to worry about the care, cleanness and well being of the cattle.
- Logistics support with cold storage warehouses in Barcelona, Madrid,
Valencia, San Sebastian and Oviedo.
- Direct sales to Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, La Rioja y Saragossa.
- And finally, a delivery fleet of 74 vehicles, of which 40 are refrigerated
with a temperature recorder that guarantees the maintenance of the refrigeration
chain.
All this allows us to have a complete control of the
productive process of all the variables that have influence on the end
quality of our product, the meat. We control, from the feeding of the
animals with our own feedstuffs factory, the test in our laboratories
of the raw materials of the feedstuffs, the breeding of the livestock
on our farm, elimination of the stress during the transportation of the
animals (they walk a kilometre stretch from the farm to the slaughterhouse),
to the distribution with our own delivery trucks.
All our guaranteed experience in
the meat industry, together with the professionalization of our organization
and the continual search for improvement, has made us one of the most
important meat, food and agricultural groups in Europe.
